Philosophy

We believe that children learn to express themselves creatively through experiences; engaging in activities and interaction with others.

YWO provides a developmentally appropriate based program in an environment designed specifically for young children. Our goal is to develop caring, respectful, and responsive relationships with children from infancy through preschool by partnering with families to support a child’s growth and development.

Curriculum

Our school utilizes the Buttercups and Fireflies Funshine Curriculum. FunShine Express started in 1995 when Beth Ehlis began creating curriculum for her licensed childcare program. With the help of her mom and sister, she reproduced this curriculum for other providers. In 2014, Funshine launched FunShine Digital, their most flexible lesson plan. EdTech awarded FunShine Digital the Cool Tool and Trendsetter Awards in 2019. Since, Funshine developed an integrated assessment program for both print and digital curricula and will soon be adding digital parent engagement and classroom management features.

Please note that many schools utilize more than one resource in their quest to educate children, and we may still implement programs in addition to this Curriculum.
